Cannes, May 20th, 2025 – Oorvi Desai London, the award-winning South Asian couture house known for its legacy of bridal elegance and red carpet craftsmanship, proudly joined forces with the Better World Fund to present two original haute couture creations at the prestigious 10th Anniversary Gala during the Cannes Film Festival. This landmark event, held at the Carlton Hotel Cannes, was not just a celebration of creativity but a powerful union of fashion and philanthropy. As India was honoured as the Country of Honour this year, Oorvi Desai London had the privilege to support the Salaam Baalak Trust, an NGO dedicated to empowering street children in India — a mission close to our heart and heritage. We unveiled two couture masterpieces: Lumière Boréale – A celestial gown in sapphire blue, inspired by the Northern Lights, with silver sequins mimicking a soft gradient sky. Noir Lumière – A sculptural silhouette in onyx-black silk, hand-embellished with antique gold sequins arranged in celestial symmetry. Over 380 hours of artisan craftsmanship brought this piece to life. This powerful evening was graced by changemakers such as Mira Nair, Nandita Das, Chiara Tilesi, Barry Alexander Brown, and many more. Their presence echoed the gala’s deeper theme — using art, cinema, and fashion as a force for good. We were also honoured to stand alongside teams from @theawakening.movie, starring @justin_tinto, @aliceeve, @therealstormare, @eddiehallwsm, and @kevinspecey, directed by @mattRdirector, with @timkentdirector and @matthookings of @camelotfilmsuk. “As a designer, it’s a profound honour to see our couture carry not just craftsmanship, but a message.
